Horoscope for the Month: "It’s the most wonderful time of the year " lalala!!!! The sun enters Capricorn on Dec. 22nd - Jan. 19th. The symbol is the goat with a fish tail, the ruling planet is Saturn. And away we go... Firstly I must bring to our attention, the time of year, all these lovely holidays and Capricorns being born, coincidence... I think not. Lol!! Okay so yes I am a Cappy. So Happy day to us all. The goat, will stop at nothing to achieve, be it truth, abundance, or love, the natural goat-gait is ever climbing, with a tail of a fish we understand the emotional side that must be balanced with that strong determination. A riddle, how is a goats eye-sight? I'll be kind, it is (usually) sharp, as sometimes the tongue of a Cappy. The personality is intense, yet loyalty and commitment is the strong suit, being an earth sign, order rules the day, to create a peaceful world, everything must be in order, including the thoughts, bills, and of course the appearance! Style takes the lead, no need for quantity, but quality is non-negotiable!! A natural leader can make one believe these goats are a bit cold. Nothing could be further from the truth! A true friend, partner, and lover of details guarantees a sense of security that you can bet on. They demand or command respect, for all, and will help whoever is in need, being so strong has its down fall, people may think a Cappy needs no one, its truly the opposite, under that strength lies a sensitive often misunderstood soul trying to keep it and everything together, when we can trust life to take care of itself, as the moon will make way for the sun without our direction, then that loving vibe can simply breathe. ahh..... Oh the love... An earth sign is usually the best partner, Taurus or Virgo has that stability and structure we crave, yet with evolving nature, dare I say it? Okay we can pretty much get it on with any one! Hmmm. I wonder was Mae West a Cappy? Live in Love, Stacey )0( A Motto For the Month: Ahh winter is upon us, what shall we do? I say we should all go inside, ourselves, what better time to contemplate and create a space for releasing and healing any disharmonies from our spirit. With the days being shorter catching up on rest and meditating sounds like the perfect winter stew. 2012 is approaching, a year of magical possibilities!! Let's make a resolution to live authentically in our hearts, and actions! The dragon year promises strength, conviction and abundance. Feel free to... feel free. Keep in touch. P.S. for emotional navigation I have openings for readings and counseling sessions to clear your path for the new year. See you at Ohm. Thank you all for such a fruitful year!! Love and Blessings, Stacey |

A stone's throw from Sayville’s
Main Street sits a quite unique store. The shop,
Ohm in the Home, which owner Stacey Gunnard
describes as "a spiritual store to raise your
consciousness and awareness", sells items of a
healing nature.
Before entering the establishment customers will
notice two ornate window displays where statues
of Buddhas and Kwan Yin (a female Bodhisattva or
"enlightened being" who is often referred to as
the Goddess of mercy) rest comfortably, looking
out onto the street. Walking through the door a
mixture of waterfalls and soft music is heard
permeating through the sweet incense soaked air.
Inside an eclectic inventory of items from oils
to incense to clothing and more is available.
Tarot cards, "guidance oracle cards" and large
soft pillows with Chinese symbols and flowers on
them are offered for purchase. Sage smudge
sticks are available which enable the purchaser
to wipe clean any negativity in the home. Fine
perfumed oils such as pine, narcissus, orange
blossom, ginger and an assortment of auric blend
rest atop shelves. A wide variety of incense is
available at Ohm in the Home. Single sticks such
as lavender, musk, ocean wind, pink carnation,
raspberry rose, sandalwood, strawberry and
vanilla are available in denominations of ten,
twenty, thirty, fifty and one hundred, ranging
in price from $2.00 to $18.00. Boxes of brands
such as Nag Champa and Satya are available for
purchase as well.
I asked Ms. Gunnard how she would best advise a
first time customer seeking a more spiritual
lifestyle. She responded that she would
recommend the first thing they do is buy a book
or Cd. In that regard the store offers such
reading material as Infinite Possibilities
by Mike Dooley, The Prophet by Kahlil
Gibran, Eckhart Tolle’s Oneness with All Life
and The Illustrated Rumi. Among her many
Cds are Ohm Sanctuary, David and Steve
Gordon's Shaman's Visions Journey and Matou
Hupohono. The enlightenment seeker may also
choose from a large selection of mini gem
stones, most often used to create bracelets,
which occupies an entire wall in the rear of the
store, containing descriptions as to each of
their functions. Black tourmaline will repel and
protect against negativity; Tiger Eye will help
balance one’s yin and yang; Serpentine clears
the chakras and opens psychic abilities and
amethyst will help center one and dispel anger
and fear. Herbal candles with names such as
"Angel’s Influence", "Housewarming", "Abundance"
and "Positive Energy" along with a variety of
Reiki charged candles will help guide one out of
the darkness. Waterfalls are in abundance at Ohm
in the Home, one of which particularly strikes
the eye which houses glowing sea salt rocks
inside it as well as a wide assortment of others
strewn around the store. A selection of clothing
that Gunnard refers to as "hippie chic" consists
of multi-patterned women’s skirts, dresses,
tops, boots and sandals. Hanging proudly high up
near the ceiling Gunnard displays art work by
one of her favorite artists, her friend Abigail
Haskell and "prayer flags" weave their way
across the ceiling near Haskell’s pieces.
Ohm in the Home, located at 18 Candee Avenue,
also holds yoga and meditation classes and
events, such as the April 9th appearance of
Tiokasin Ghosthorse of the Cheyenne River Lokota
Nation who will speak about the 2012 prophecies.
For more information about that event and the
store call (631) 589-3044. |
